This posting will be used to fill a PART-TIME (0.80) and primarily OVERNIGHT shift vacancy at the Minnesota Veterans Homes (MVH) - Minneapolis. The work schedule will include at least 64 hours per 2-week pay period and may include additional work hours, based on business needs.

The Registered Nurse Senior (Officer of the Day) will assist the Nursing Management team by providing clinical expertise and guidance to the Nursing Department to ensure continuous quality care delivery. As the OD this position will be responsible to direct resident centered and resident focused care and assumes delegated authority in the absence of Nursing leadership.

  • The position is initially eligible for the FULL employer contribution towards health and dental insurance benefits.
  • The position is initially eligible for shift differential pay of $2.75 per hour for hours worked between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.
  • This position is initially eligible for Officer of the Day (OD) differential pay of $2.75 per hour.

Minimum Qualifications

**** This is an OVERNIGHT, part-time (0.80) position, work hours are 10:30 pm - 7:00 am. ****

  • Licensed in Minnesota as a Registered Nurse with no restrictions.
  • Two (2) years of experience as a Registered Nurse working in a skilled nursing facility with primary responsibility for coordinating and assessing plan of care.
  • Experience with clinical documentation and writing investigative reports.
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to skilled nursing and state survey.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three (3) years of experience as a Registered Nurse working in a long-term or skilled nursing facility with primary responsibility for coordinating and assessing plan of care.
  • Experience as a charge nurse or supervisory experience supervising, coaching, performance management, mentoring professional and support nursing staff; as well as experience leading and coordinating interdisciplinary teams.
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills in emergencies and independent judgement during leadership absence.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of survey and regulatory compliance (such as CMS, infection prevention and control, incident and investigative reporting).
  • Effective leadership and communication skills (providing guidance to nursing staff, effective communication with stakeholders and clientele).

Additional Requirements

  • Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) background check may be conducted on the top finalist(s) for the position(s). When conducted, a finalist must pass the DHS background check.
  • A Tuberculosis (Mantoux) screening (or chest x-ray) is required prior to employment.
